PDB2MC

Project Description

The structures of proteins and other biomolecules determined by X-ray crystallography, NMR, and cryo-EM are published at the RCSB Protein Data Bank (rcsb.org). These structures are primarily viewed using free or paid programs that are powerful tools, yet whose learning curve may pose an inaccessible barrier to for educators, students, and the public. The purpose of the stand-alone PDB2MC program is to make a fun and accessible alternative by generating files that can be loaded by the popular video game Minecraft.

The PDB2MC program comes with several models, but also can use any PDB file downloaded from RCSB Protein Data Bank. Currently, the program only includes a .EXE file for Windows, but can be installed on any operating system with Python 3.11+
