BIOS 4100 is designed to familiarize students with modern molecular biological concepts and techniques. Evolution, molecular biology, and disease are all integrated aspects of the course and can be examined using a broad set of techniques called “genomics”. Students will be learning from lectures and hand’s-on activities, as well as contributing to the Genomics Education Partnership—an organization that uses student investigations to move real research forward. These skills empower students to form a foundation for future scientific exploration and become educated consumers of science. Students will also gain fundamental general biology knowledge necessary to build upon for advanced study in biological sciences in future courses and careers.
